Accept reality but don’t give up
I have accepted that my house will never be pristine and on the cover of Good Housekeeping, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be much much better than it is. I have been very work focused, and have been working full time with a side business that I do on weekends, so my house and myself have been put on the backburner. It is time for those items to come to the front and receive the care and attention that they both need.
As I look around my house, I have good storage space that is packed to the gills. It is time to de-clutter with a very strong arm and get rid of all of the things that are not serving a good purpose. Yes all of the items in the house have served a purpose at one time, and the concern is that they may be needed again someday. The problem with that thinking is that currently they are doing more harm than good by taking up space from the things that we are using right now.
I need to have a game plan to tackle the clutter and get it done while I have a bit of time on my hands. As I start one project, it leads to another and then I don’t finish the first so I think that I need to get more methodical in my mission. It seems that putting things away is difficult because the storage spaces are full of things that are not being used, so the things that are used frequently get left sitting out.
I am going to start with de-cluttering one cabinet so that I can put some things away in it. This will involve completely getting rid of the things in the cabinet that do not get used so that there will be plenty of space. It doesn’t matter if they are potentially useful. If they aren’t used, then they aren’t serving their purpose and they need to go.
